Africans from the west coast of Africa was brought to American colonies against their will, and were sold as slaves to work in farms and such. -

A war about ending slavery or not (one of the topics). The southern states wanted to keep on with the slavetrading while President Lincoln and "his states" wanted to end slavery. -
Free slaves
Emancipation Proclamation was signed by Lincoln, and made all slaves free. But it then came laws saying that black people could not mix with white, own land or vote. -

Civil Rights Movement
Black people started to fight against apartheid using demostartions, boycotts and speeches. Martin Luther King Jr. was the leader of the movement. and his work gave him two nobels peace-prizes, one in 1964 and one in 1968. After this movement, black and white could now mix. -
First Black President
Barack Obama was elected for president in 2009 as the first black president of the United States of America. -
Black Lives Matter
Alicia Graza, Patrisse Cullors and Opal Tometi creat a political movemetn for black peoples right til life, after the murder of Trayvon Martin.
