Adolf Hitler (leader of the Nazi Party) becomes chancellor of Germany. He outlawed all politial patries and his put his plan of fetting rid of any "inferior" people into action.

Germans invade Holland. The Nazi's formed anti-Jewish laws which disrupted the Frank's everyday life. Anne could no longer attend school and Otto Frank (Anne's father) was not permitted to own or run a business.

For Anne's 13th birthday, one of the most important presents she recieved was a journal. She tracks in this journal her life span through World War II. Little does she ever know, the world will be reading it and admiring her some day.

As things started getting bad in the world between the Nazis and Jews, the Franks decided to go into hiding. They hid in Otto Frank's old work called the "Secret Annex."

Another Jewish family, the Van Daans, show up to the Secret Annex to hide out from the nazis with the Frank family.

Jewish people begin to be treated by the Gestapo. They load them into cattle trucks and send them to Westerbork - Jewish camp in Drente. This is where they begin to torture the Jews by branding them and shaving their heads.

Dussel, a dentist, is moving into the Secret Annex to hide out along with the Frank and Van Daan family.

Anne documents the wretchedness to be ill while in hiding. She had to keep her coughing muffled for the fear of one to hear.

Anne recites that she "misses having a real mother who understands her." This event is important because she is just a 14 year old girl, who aches for her mother to understand her. She dreams of the day she can be a "mumsie" (a perfect mother) unlike her own she calls "mum".

An organization called "The Free Netherlands" forged identity cards, supplied money to people, found hiding places, and work for men in hiding. They risked their lives to protect others.

Mr. Van Daan caught a burglar in the office. The burglar left the door open. He or she stole a projecter and Mr. Kraler's portfolio.

In the Secret Annex, they were on a very slim supply of food including rotten carrots, turnip tops, and kidney beans. This is significant because people are used to eating lavishingly but the people in hiding where cut back.

Anne has a passion for writing. Little does she know, her story will be shared across the world someday.

Peter Van Daan, also living in the Secret Annex, showed Anne his affection towards her. He became Anne's first kiss.

Anne admits to being in love with Peter.

The English announced at eight o'clock in the morning that the invasion has begun.
