Released a year after it's predecessor, the iPhone 3GS had the same general design. However, it worked faster and had GPS to expand on location services. It also introduced the App Store. -
iPhone 4
The iPhone 4 released two years after the 3GS. It was a slimmer and more portable phone and offered faster services. -
iPhone 4S
The iPhone 4S built upon the groundwork laid out by the iPhone 4. It included a new A5 chip that improved its performance and a new enhanced camera. The "S" in the title was to introduce Siri, a built-in function to help use the device that was voice activated. -
iPhone 5
The iPhone 5 was considered both the thinnest and lightest iPhone at the time of it's creation. The charging port changed its design and it added LTE support to its networks. -
iPhone 5S
The iPhone 5S included a better camera than its predecessor and Touch ID, which allowed a user to unlock their phone with their fingerprint. -
iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus
The iPhone 6 was praised for it's new modern design. It allowed for a bigger screen and introduced the Apple Pay, as well as better camera quality.
The iPhone 6 Plus, introduced on the same day, was created to compete with the rest of the smartphone market with their increasing screen sizes. The trend of creating a plus size iPhone would continue. -
iPhone 6S & iPhone 6S Plus
Apple introduced the 6S, which was extremely similar to the iPhone 6 at first glance. However, it introduced the Live Photos function and added a 3D Touch display that allowed users to press their screen harder to access menu information. -
iPhone 7 & iPhone 7 Plus
The new phone offered a new updated camera and various photo features. The headphone jack was removed and instead, traditional headphones have to be connected through a dongle. They were water resistant, and made for a strong match to their rival Galaxy S7. -
iPhone 8 & iPhone 8 Plus
Apple introduced the iPhone 8, which included a new processor that made it around 25% faster than the 7. -
iPhone X
The iPhone X ("ten") was released only a month after the iPhone 8, skipping one with the number 9. It introduced a wider phone screen and introduced many new features. These include the Face ID, which allows a user to unlock their phone with just their face, and an updated camera.
