May 8, 1945 Berlin is Divided
America, Britain, French in West, and Soviet in the East, all divided into four sectors. The wall has not yet been built yet though. -
October 29, 1946 Interzonenpass
The citizens of Germany now need a 30 day, interzonenpass to get to different sections. -
June 24, 1948 Blockade
Blockade is now officially built dividing Berlin. -
May 12, 1949 Blockade Ends
The blockade is finally done being built, about a year later. -
October 7, 1949 Republic of Germany
The Republic of Germany is finally founded. -
May 26, 1952 Berlin Wall Closes
Only the border between East and West Berlin was open. -
June 17, 1953 Uprising of East Berlin
Workers increased against imposition. Suppression of tanks by Red Army also happens. -
November 14, 1953 Waive of Interzonenpasses
Western powers the Interzonenpasses. Soviet Union follows but Eastern German citizens need permission to pass. -
December 11, 1957 East Germany without permission
If someone left East Germany without permission, this was against the wall. Therefore they were imprisoned up to 3 years. -
August 13, 1961 Berlin sectorial
Wall between East and West Berlin is closed. Therefore barriers are now built. -
August 14, 1961 Brandenburg Gate
The Bradenburg Gate is now closed also. -
August 26, 1961 Crossing points are clossed
West Berlin points are all now closed. -
December 17, 1963 East to West Berlin visiting is now permitted
Citizens from the East are now allowed to visit the West again, for up to 2 years. -
September 3, 1971 Four Power's Agreement
Visiting for Berlin becomes easier for West Berliners. -
June 12, 1987 Ronald Reagan visits Berlin
President Reagan urges the Soviet Union leader to tear down the wall. -
September 10, 1989 Hungarian Government
Government opens the border for the Eastern German refugees. -
November 9, 1989 Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall is finally opened. -
December 22, 1989 Bradenburg Gate
The Bradenburg Gate is now also opened. -
October 3, 1990 Reunited
After all this, Germany is finally reunited.
