The French and Indian War
The French and Indian War was a nine year war between Great Britain and the French and Indians. Many of the Colonists, including George Washington fought on Britians side. -
Proclaimation of 1763
After the french and indian war colonsist had exhausted therir reasources to fight for land, only to be told they could not expand out west. Although it settled the fight between the indians and colonists, it was a temporary fix. -
Sugar Act
England created the Sugar tax, in which taxed sugar, certain wines, coffee, pimiento, cambric and printed calico, and further, regulated the export of lumber and iron. -
Stamp Act
This was the first Act directed toward the colonists. The tax made it so every newspaper, pamphlet, and other public and legal document had to have a Stamp, or British seal, on it. -
Patrick Henry's speech
Patrick Henry makes a famous speech. His famous words include "Give me Liberty, or give me death!" Patrick Henry was a well-known critic of the Stamp Act. This speech rallied many to protest taxes. -
Boston Massacre
British soldiers open fired on colonist resulting in a massacre. They killed only 5 people but it ultimatelty deepend Americas distrust for the British. -
Boston Tea Party
The American group, Sons of Liberty, led a protest to protest the increase on taxes. In such protest they dressed up as Native Americans and dump 342 cases of tea from 3 british ships in to the boston harbor. -
Paul Revere Ride
Paul Revere rode through the countryside to warn the American colonists that the British were coming. Even though he did not make it to the place, he managed to pass the message to Dr. Samuel Prescott, whom got the message through. -
The Battle of Lexington and concord
Brittish troops marched to Concord in order to take over Concord because their was a rumor that Americans had a stock pile of weapon with the intent to revolt. The Americans eventually found out and assembles a small army in lexington in order to stop them. The first shot fired was claimed to be "the shot heard around the world." -
Declaration of Independence
Written and signed by the 13 colonies proclaiming their independence from Great Britain.
