Opened up it's doors located in Encanto Village in Phoenix, Arizona. The first class was held in three small cottages. -

Phoenix Junior College recieved its formal recognition to the North Central Association (NCA). -
Observatory
Phoenix College built the fourth largest telescope in Arizona -
Breaking Ground
Contruction started that expanded to 50 arces of land at the present location. -
Attack on Pearl Harbor
Couple weeks before attack on Pearl Harbor, 20 students completed the Civil Aeronautics. -
New Mission Statement
Phoenix College is a comprehensive community college responsive to changing the needs of the community and to individuals pursing academic, occupational, developemental and enrichment goals. The college is dedicated to providing quality educational course, support programs and services. -
Recognition
Considered as one of the top 15 junior colleges in the nation. -
Racism does not exsist
1951 Elderidge Gonaway, who was African American, was elected student body president. Phoenix Junior College was never a segregated school. -
MCCCD
Phoenix Junior College transfered jurisdiction to be part of the Maricopa County Community College District. Glendale and Mesa Community College were extentions of Phoenix Junior College. -

NJCAA Champions of the Gerogia Peach Shrine Bowl. -
Dental Hygiene Program
First cohort of Dental Hygienist and was the first dental hygine program in the state of Arizona. -

The National Science Foundation choose Phoenix College as one of the to participate in the participlation of computer aid instructions that taught English and Math to students. -
Accredidation
Phoenix College awarded re-accrediation by HLC/NCA. -
Alumni Association
Alumni Association was created also known as the PCAA -
ACE program
Acheiving a College Education (ACE) program was formed to mentor "At-Risk" High School Students to help motivate higher education. -
Awards
Phoenix College and PCAA was awared CASE gold metal for Best Practices in Alumni Relations with doing a collaboration with the ACE program to provided Personal Money Managment programs to the student and parents of Phoenix College -
Dr. Solley
Inducted to be the new president of Phoenix College. -
