A war between Massine and Basil
After Blum left, Basil’s ego was too much for Massine and he left the company to start his own. the two of them fought over everything including name choreography. Massine won the rights to the company name, Ballet Russe de Monte-Carlo so Basil renamed his company The Original Ballet Russe. -
Return to London
Both companies returned to London after their tours of America and Australia. but also in this same year war was declared on Germany in the Start of WWII. This caused both companies to be on a boat together and travel back to the Americas. -
Hurok cut off connection with Basil
Hurok publically declared Basil as one of the most difficult people to work with. Due to Huroks many connections his company was very successful leaving the Original Ballet Russe without work. -
Broadway Ballet
Ballet crossed over into Broadway, choreographed by George Balachine who returned back to the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo after leaving for 12 years. -
