    After a time of no work for the dancers, Wasily de Basil and Rene Blum started a new company called the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo. It allowed George Balanchie, former choreographer for the Ballet Russe, became a dancing master at the new Ballet Russe.

    This was the first performance at the Ballet Russe de Monte-Carlo. Critics said it was an authentic air to Diaghliev's Ballet Russe. many choreographers came back to work for Basil and Blum.

    Basily and Blum slowly pushed out George Balanchie and replaced him with Leonide Massine. The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo traveled to London. Leonide Massine created stronger male roles and a symphonic orchestra that the public adored.

    The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo sailed to America and Sol Hurok (impressio) started a tour across America for the company. America didn't know much about ballet even after 20 years from Diaghliev's Ballet Russe.

    Basil and Blum fought over certain aspects about the company leading to Blum leaving. Soon Massine and Basil had legal issues over the company leading to two split companies. Each company made their debut in London.

    Bad times to Change in Location

    After months of no dance class or rehersals, Hurok severed his ties with Basil declaring him as too difficult to work with. The Original Ballet Russe, the new company, was out of work so Hurok planned a tour across Latin America because they couldn't get back to London yet.

    Britain and France declared war on Germany in World War II. This stroke fear in the Russians because they didn't have the right papers to leave the country. Soon both companies got a boat ride to America.

    Ballet hits Broadway
    Ballet crossed into Broadway and was choreographed by George Balanchine. After leaving the Ballet Russe he was able to bounce around in film and Broadway.
  • The Last Dance

    The Last Dance
    After Basil and Hurok tried to organize a tour across America again, the dancers ended up leaving for better opportunities. Basil tried to hire new dancers but they weren't as proficient which left the company in worst shape. In November the company had their last performance.
