La Sylphide
Originally choreographed by Fillippo Taglioni, this ballet refelcted Romantic ideals. The plot invloved a sylph with magical powers and alove triangle among mortal and beast which is a very typical Romantic theme. His daughet Marie Taglioni was the lead female roll in the ballet. -

This ballet choreoraphed by Marius Petipa, is still performed in current theatres. Petipa was an important name in ballet and this dance in particular is known for being plotless. -

Sergei Diaghilev was an extremely important influence in ballet history. He was the creator and person in charge of the Ballet Russes in Russia. He took in many influential choreographers and collaborated with many artists and composers. -

The movment of this ballet was not the only innovative quality, the costuming and set design was like nothing before it. Pablo Picasso was the deigner for the cosutmes and set and the result is an insanely, surrealistic, spectacle. -

A Russan prima ballerina who came from the Ballet Russes. She was the Dying Swan and was the first ballerina to tour all around the world.
