Week 3
This week marks the beginning of the embryonic period. From now until 10 weeks, all of your baby's organs will begin to develop and some will even begin to function. As a result, this is the time when she'll be most vulnerable to anything that might interfere with her development. Right now your baby is an embryo , consisting of two layers: the epiblast and the hypoblast, from which all of her organs and body parts will develop. -
Week 6
This is the sixth week and first of the first trimester. At this point of the pregnecy the baby is beggining to form the nose, mouth, and ears. The babies eyes and nostriles are forming. Then the arms and legs are protruding, and its heart is beating 100 to 160 beats per minute. Also his intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appered. The formation of the rest of his brain and musels and bones are forming now. And your baby is a quater of and inch. -
Week 9
nearly an inch long, weighs only a fraction of an ounce , and looks more human,and all their essential body parts are accounted for. Its heart finishes dividing into the four sections and its valves start to form and so do their teeth. The embryonic tail is gone. The baby's organs, muscles, and nerves start kicking in. The external sex organs are their but won't be determined for another few weeks. Their eyes are fully formed but eyelids and closed shut and won't open until week 27 -
Week 13
This is the first week of the second trimester .Your baby's kidneys are producing urine, and he releases it into the amniotic fluid. He can make facial expressions and may have discovered thumb-sucking -
Week 18
During the 18th week of your pregnancy your baby is about 5 1/2 inches long from head to rump and he weighs almost 7 ounces. He's busy flexing his arms and legs . His blood vessels are visible through his thin skin, and his ears are now in their final position, A protective covering of myelin is beginning to form around his nerves. -
Week 23
her sense of movement well developed by now, your baby can feel you dance. And now that she's more than 11 inches long and weighs just over a pound , you may be able to see her squirm underneath your clothes. Blood vessels in her lungs are developing to prepare for breathing, and the sounds that your baby's increasingly keen ears pick up are preparing her for entry into the outside world. Week 30
At this point in the pregnancy the baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds. Also a pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in the uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very good; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. -
Week 33
During this week of the pregnancy the baby weighs a little over 4 pounds and has passed the 17-inch mark. He is losing the wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap -
Week 36
Your baby is still packing on the pounds. She now weighs almost 6 pounds and is more than 18 1/2 inches long. She's losing most of the downy covering of hair that covered her body as well as the vernix caseosa. By the end of the week she will be considered full term.
