The Aztecs formed the Triple Alliance joining the three cities of Texcoco, Tlacopán, and Tenochtitlán and were able to then start building their empire. -

Montezuma I took the throne
Montezuma I, the greatest Aztec leader, took the throne. This is when the greatest geographical expansion occurred. -

The Spanish arrived in the Valley of Mexico
Herman Cortés led his massive army of conquistadors into the Valley of Mexico. -

Tenochtitlán was attacked
Cortés and his army reached the city of Tenochtitlán and decided to attack them. Montezuma II was taken a hostage and the city fell. -

End of the Aztec empire
Cortés again attacked Tenochtitlán and took control from Cuauhtemoc, Montezuma II's nephew. This battle ended the Aztec empire
