Birth
Born at the Ohio State Wexner Medical Center to parents Chuck and Mary Garthee. -
Preschool
Began attending Scioto school. First time around other children, though many of them left for other schools or cities early on . -
Kindergarten
Continued to attend Scioto Elementary. I remember having a decent teacher but not much else. Made some friends who quickly left my life. I’ll be honest and say that I do not even remember names, just vague faces. -
First Grade
Last year at Scioto Elementary. The school was going to be torn down the following year, so I had to change from the relatively close school to one not as close that featured a new cast of individuals. I do not remember anything of note in the year. -
Second Grade
First and only year at ParkView Elementary. Terrible school, but I did enjoy my second grade teacher, Mrs. Regiel (she was a family friend). -
Third Grade
First year at Westview Elementary, the first year the school opened. I believe that this was the year I moved into a house closer to the school, a house I still live in, and if so this was also the year my first pet, a dog named April, passed away. -
Fourth Grade
I honestly do not remember anything of note. I know that during my elementary career did I attempt soccer, so this may be the year I decided to stop, but other than that this year of my life was incredibly minor. -
Fifth Grade
Last year at Westview and last year I was required to take speech classes. I remember hating this year because I was not placed into the high group. While I know elementary school does not matter in the long run, I lost a number of early opportunities, such as trips, educational programs, and acquaintances, because I was I not given the chance to try. Not only were that, but the people I was around as a result of my placement, for the most part, terrible. -
Sixth Grade
Began attending Jackson Middle School. Met the people who would become my long-term friends, but my fifth grade placement continued into the grade and I was again missed many opportunities that I could have greatly benefitted from. Began band with percussion. -
Seventh Grade
I was placed into a higher level group and as a result began to excel in my academics. I remember particularly liking my English teacher, I believe her name was Mrs. Wilt, because she gave attention to my ability, something I was not used to at the time. I also joined the newspaper club, a group that introduced me to some nice, older students who would later influence me in other areas. -
Eighth Grade
Probably one of my best years. I had my favorite teacher ever, Sylvia Donaldson (now married into the Call surname) who was the first person to ever really inspire me and overall no issues. -
Ninth Grade
Began attending Jackson High School. This year was a good year for me overall because I began the drama club, was accepted into the Symphonic Band, and as a result met many more people. I also began to learn that percussion was not the instrument for me. Luckily, the current band director, Jenna McCoy, understood my concerns and she began to educate me in the brass family. -
Tenth Grade
I began playing brass, marching mellophone and playing the baritone in Symphonic Band. I also began to take French horn lessons to prepare for the change the following year. -
Eleventh Grade
I began taking AP courses and began taking my horn playing seriously. My mother died early in the year but that did not stop me from doing well academically. I was also accepted into the National Honors Society, something which I took pride of at the time. I also got a dog, which I named Emi. -
Twelfth Grade
Last year of high school. Graduated 8th in class with an honors diploma. Also got two cats, named Chen and Dusk. -
Now
Attending BGSU as an undecided major. Trying to get invovled with a few things and overall attempting to fit in and adjust. -
Period: to
Future
Hopefully I will pick a major and decide on my future with a list of friends and experiences to show for my time here.
