5 time premier, Henry Parkes convinced the other colonies premiers to discuss federation at a federation convention, representatives from New Zealand and it was Held in Melbourne -

Each Colony sent their representatives to the convention, a committee was chosen to start writing a Constitution. -

there was a meeting for the pro - federation group, after times that had drawn people away from the idea of federation. -

The National conventions met and all attended the convention and the meetings, apart from Queensland. -
1899 - 29th January 2nd February 1899
premiers had a meeting to listen to the concerns of three colonies, the capital city was finally decided that the capital city of Australia would be between Sydney and Melbourne. -
