Father of Positivism
Auguste Comte was born on January 19, 1798, in Montpellier, France, and is well known for being the father of positivism. Positivism is described as, "Any system that confines itself to the data of experience and excludes a priori or metaphysical speculations. The Law of the Classification of Sciences
Comte tried to bring order amongst the scientific branches that seemed to be all mixed up. They move up through his law of the three stages until its ultimate completion of reaching the positive stage.

Religion of Humanity
In 1849, Comte founded the Religion of Humanity. It was a secular religion. He felt society needed a new religion and took it upon himself to be the high priest of it.
