    The club's history has paralleled with the stadium. San Mamés has been home to the lions since August 1913, which was when the first home game was played there with Athletic. The premiere of San Mames, later called The Cathedral, had as a goalscorer pichichi, a unique player. The match that was played ended in 1-1 against Racing the Irun.
