Asuka Period
The Asuka Period is known for it's artistic, political and social transformations, largely affected by the arrival of Buddhism from China. The Asuka Period is also distinguished by it's change of coutry name from Wa to Nihon. In the Asuka period, currency was issued, architecture and art were making major advances. It was a very succesful time for Japan. -
Heian Period
The Heian Period is the last of the classical Japanese historical divisions. The period was named after the capital city Heian-Kyo or modern Kyoto. It is the period in Japanese when Chinese influences such as Taoism and Buddhism were at their height. The Heian Period is also called the peak of the Japnese imperoal court and noted for it's art.
