Khrushchev comes to power
In 1953 Nikita was named secretary of the communist party, and in 1958 he was promoted to premier. Nikita led Russia at the peak of the cold war and served as premier from 1958-1964. He was the reason for the Cuban missile crisis because of his idea to place missiles 90 miles away from Florida. Khrushchev is well known for the approved construction of the Berlin wall, and his process of De-Stalinization. -
Jimmy Carter elected
Jimmy Carter won his party's nomination on the first ballot at the 1976 Democratic National Convention, and was elected president on November 2, 1976. Jimmy Carter served as president from January 20, 1977 to January 20, 1981. The best thing Carter may have done during his only term was supporting Salt II Carter and Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev signed the agreement, the U.S. Congress, in the wake of the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, refused to ratify it. -

When Ronald Reagan was sworn in as America’s 40th president on Jan. 20, 1981, the United States was reeling from a series of setbacks, and the Soviet Union was ascendant. Reagan led the U.S. to some of the best economic years it's ever had. Reagan was a great speaker, he was also the first ever actor to be elected as president. -
Berlin wall falls
The berlin wall being torn down is a very important symbol in history. This happened November 9, 1989 the German Democratic Republic of East Germany began the de-construction of the Berlin Wall. The wall was built to completely cut-off West Berlin to East Berlin and East Germany, so East Germans Wouldn't be able to flee to West germany. East Germany was backed by the Soviets at the time, while the U.S. backed West Germany. After three and a half decades East and West germany were unified. -

U.S. "wins" cold war
Most say There is no clear cut winner of the cold war, however I believe U.S. won the war. They had fewer deaths and communism came to an end. It is called the cold war because there was very few outright battles. The war was over political differences such as the spread of communism. -
Russia invades ukraine
The United States Military has predicted what war will be like for them and other nations involved. They believe it won't be all that much different than how it is now however, there is believe chemical weapons will be used, which could prove to be very fatal. There whole new idea of war is “doing more with less”. But that will still require major investments which we aren't ready to make quite yet.

Russia increases military threat
May 29, 2016 it was reported Russia is making massive upgrades to their military. Vladimir Putin is not content will russia's military at the moment, and has decided to do something about it. Most of the upgrades have been modernizing military forces, and adding more soldiers and weapons. Recently It has been reported that Russian military planes and ships have been aggressively buzzing U.S. and NATO aircraft and vessels and intruding into European waters and airspace. -
Russias futre military plans
Experts say in the next decade or so Russia will be one of or if not the top military force in the world. Vladimir Putin himself has brought Russia's military status up to where he says it belongs, the top, and has no intent of stopping. Experts have predicted that Russia will cause the next major war the U.S. will have to be involved in. -
