    Piaget's Theory is that children develop in stages and that these stages lead up to abstract thinking only by the age of 12 to 15 years old.
  • Experimental Learning - John Dewey.

    Dewey established that the motivation for learning requires us to initially experience a need for skill or gaining knowledge, which then drives learning to the next cycle.
  • Constructivism - Jerome Bruner .

    Bruner proposes that learners learn the most when drawing from their own experiences by wrestling with problems ( problem based learning and experimenting based on specific goals to be met.
  • Schema Theory - Roger Schank .

    Schank believes that learning occurs when someone wants to learn,not when someone wants to teach.This theory claims that the mind wants to order things into patterns and relationships with others in order to make knowledge useful.
  • Social Learning Theory - Albert Bandura .

    Bandera believes that learners learn by observing others and for online learning this means that they will watch case studies and videos are important for the online experience.
  • Cognitive Apprenticeship - John Seely Brown .

    Cognitive Apprenticeship promotes hands on doing and problem solving .This concept of collective social mind promotes community and collaborative work.
  • Theory of Emotional Intelligence. - Daniel Goleman.

    This theory is more about Emotional Intelligence as an ability than a traits Abilities such as self awareness and self regulation, motivation and social skills can be acquired while learning.
  • Situated Learning Theory - Jean Love

    Contextualizing knowledge learning in a Community of Practice, for example to learn the needs of the community and work with the team to ensure that the needs in the community are met.
  • Expert Performance Theory - K .Anders .

    Anders maintains that expertise is not attained by innate genius abilities, but by practicing so persistently that you become an expert in your field.
  • Theory of Mindful Learning- Ellen Langer .

    Mindful Learning has to do with creative and critical thinking, asking the right questions and cultivating a mindset of uncertainty. To be Mindful you need to create new categories from existing material offered to you ,always be open to new information and be aware that there is more than one perspective.
