Iranian Hostage Crisis (1979)
A crisis between Iran & the U.S. 50 Americans were held hostage for 444 days . This crisis has been explained as an "entanglement of vengeance and mutual incomprehension ." Since this crisis it has really broken ties , in a way , between the United States & Iran . This event was from November 4th to January 20th ,1981 . -
Beirut Barracks Bombing (1983)
Happened while the Lebanise civil war was going on . 2 truck bombs hit different buildings that were housing the United States & French Military Forces . It killed 299 service men . -
Lockerbie (Pan Am flight 103) Bombing (1988)
The plane " Clipper Maid of the Seas" was on it's way from London to New York , when it was hit by a bomb , It killed all of it's passengers , which was 243 people & all of its crew members 16 people & to top it all of 11 people in Southern Scottland were killed by the parts of the blown up plane falling on them & it also destroyed their houses . -
World Trade Center Bombing (1993)
A truck bomb was supposed to blow up the World Trade Center in New York . It was supposed to blow up the first tower & then the first tower was going to fall into the 2nd tower & kill thousands of people , but their plan failed , so it only killed 7 peple , but it injured thousands . In 1994 , four men were convicted of the attempted bombing & in 1997 2 more men were convicted . -
Second Intifada (Palestinians) (2000-2005)
It was also known as the Al-Aqsa Intifada . It was the 2nd Palestinian uprising , it was a time where there was intense violence between Palestine & Isreal . There was about 5,500 Palestenian deaths , & about 1,000 Isrealite deaths , but that is just an estimation . -
9/11 Attacks (2001)
The 9/11 attacks was when terrorists came to the United States on airplanes that hit America's World Trade Center , it tried to hit The Pentegon & knocked down our twin towers , in New York City . This caused major grief to all of America . It killed thousands of people . -
London Bombings (2005)
This was a suicide bombing . Four Islamic terrorists set off 4 bombs durring the morning rush on Londons main ways of transportation, 3 of them were set off on the underground train & the last one was set off on a double decker bus . It killed 52 people & the 4 bombers & hurt 700 people -
Times Square Bombing Attempt (2010)
There was a bomb found in a Nissan car in Times Square . It failed to go off . But people are saying that the Pakistani Taliban had something to do with it .
