As Addie lays dying, Cash starts building her coffin and Darl and Jewel sell timber. -

Addie dies and is carried in her coffin into a waiting wagon. Although Darl wasn't there for the death, he senses his mother has died. -

The Bundren family begin their journey to Jefferson while Jewel accompanies the wagon on horseback. -

The family makes a stop at the Samson farm and spend the night. Rachel is conflicted because of the horrible smell but she also wants them to stay. -

Both the bridges they need to use are broken and the team of mules drown. -

Reaching the Second Farm
The Bundrens make it to another farm and Cash's foot starts turning black. Jewel trades his horse to replace the team of mules they lost trying to cross the river. -
Reaching the Town of New Hope
Dewey-Dell asks the pharmacist for an abortion drug and anses makes a cast for Cash's broken leg. The family is soon asked to leave because Addie's dead body is rotting and smells putrid. -
Gillespies Farm
The family spends the night at the farm and Darl burns down the farm where Addie's coffin was in. But the family is able to rescue the coffin and keep going on their journey. -
Finally Reaching Jefferson
The family finally reaches Jefferson. Darl is taken away to an asylum, and Addie is laid to rest. The children get introduced to the new Mrs. Bundren.
