Artemis Fowl is declared sane.
After six months of therapy Dr. Jerbal Argon declares Artemis Fowl cured from his Atlantis Complex. It was a mental condition that he got in the previous book in the series as a result of meddling with fairy magic. Normally this recovery would take much longer, but because of Artemis's superior intellect Dr. Argon declared him cured in record time. -
Opal plans to take over the world.
The evil fairy Opal Koboi, who is in jail, plans to take over the worldyet again. She is an evil genous that is very intelligent and powerful in the human and fairy worlds. The only problem is that she is mentally unstable and deluded. -
Opal kidnaps herself.
Opal Koboi kidnaps the younger of her two selves, the one that isn't in jail. She tells two gnomes to demand the LEP, or fairy police, to release the Opal that is in jail in fifteen minutes or they will shoot the younger Opal. The LEP try to persuade the gnomes because no matter how evil the person, their job is to keep them alive. -
Young Opal dies.
EXPLOSION Lots of things, computers, weapons, satellites, everyday appliances explode. this is because of a time paradox. Young Opal traveled forward in time and ended up making many things that humans and fairies use. Now that she is dead, and wasn't supposed to be in that time in the first place, anything that she made imploded. Causing chaos among humans and fairies alike. This is the first step of her plan. -
Opal becomes a supreme magical being.
This is the second part of Opal's plan. She had been influenced by her younger self and would explode. The LEP knew this and put her in a nuclear missile tube that was capable of containing the blast. Opal had come up with the theory that if she concentrated her massive thinking power, magical powers and will together then she could turn into a magical being from the explosion. She was right like she was about most things, and was able to turn into a supreme being made entirely of black magic. -
Opal opens the lock, and releases the Berserkers.
Using her extraordinary magical powers Opal opens the magical lock made by Bruin Fadda 10,000 years ago. This releases the souls of bloodthirsty Berserkers. The powerful fairy made two locks during the fairy and human war. The first lock, the one that Opal just opened, releases the Bereserker souls to protect the fairies. The second lock kills all humans on the earth, but it is much more complex than the first lock. -
Mulch Diggums saves Holly, Butler, and Artemis
Holly, Butler, and Artemis arrive at Fowl Manner only to be cornered by the Berserkers. They are about to be killed when a hole opens up in the ground and they fall in. The tunnel under them had been dug by Mulch Diggums, an expert tunnel dwarf and theif. He was there to meet them, and his rescue gave them time to come up with a plan to stop Opal from opening the second lock. -
The Berserkers inhabit Fowl manner.
The magical locks were made on the Fowl estate. So, when the Berserkers get set free they inhabit any living body they can find. Three of these living bodies are some of Artemis's closest family. The three Berserkers control the bodies of his younger brothers Myles and Beckett, and Butler's younger sister Juliet. -
Gruff the troll is drawn to the magical residue at Fowl Manner.
The most ancient, gigantic, and forceful troll is called Gruff. Trolls are lean, mean, killing machines that survive no matter what. They are not nearly as inteligent as humans or fairies, but have a far superior intellect than chimpanzees or dolphins. These trolls are naturally drawn to magical residue, and there is an unusually large amount of it at the Fowl Manner. -
The group makes a plan.
Artemis comes up with a plan to get back their mannor. Mulch will dig another tunnel and try to steal their guns back from where Artemis, Butler, and Holly's ship crash landed. Meanwhile, Artemis, Butler and Holly are trying to take back the mannor and kill all the Berserkers that they can get their hands on. -
They defeat the Berserker inside Myles.
The berserker that was inside Myles was the ancient Berserker Gobdaw. He was one of the best knife fighters in history but with Artemis's brains and Holly athleticism they trick Gobdaw into going into the afterlife. This gives Artemis's younger borther his body back. -
Artemis, Butler, and Holly go to the barn for their plan.
Artemis decides that their best option to defeat Opal is by destroying the gates magic so that it can't work. The only weapon capable of doing this is a high-powered super-laser. Which, of course, Artemis had previously built from scratch in the barn and attached to the electric plane he made. The group then gears up and begins trekking to the barn. On the way, they are attacked by swarms of murderous crickets. They survive by diving in the lake and swiming to the other side where the barn is. -
They are caught in a trap.
When they walk into the barn to check on the plane, they see the battery had been removed. Butler is knocked unconcsious by a bolt of magic from a Berserker. Artemis and Holly look as if they are about to be killed by the Berserkers when Mulch comes in. He had confronted Gruff, the troll and won. Mulch is now riding the troll and can command it to kill the Berserkers. He then commands the troll to push the glider down the runway, giving Artemis and Holly just enough energy to take off. -
Artemis makes his final plan.
The glider did not have a battery in it, and was just able to glide over the gate Opal Koboi was working on unlocking before crash landing back at the main entrance. Holly and Artemis dragged an unconscious Butler to his office. Artemis then contacts Foaly, who was a friend in the LEP, asking for two things. Foaly gave him both, but told Holly about Artemis's plan. She did not like it one bit and tried to stop him, but he again outsmarted her and gave her sedative. -
Life or Death
Artemis then walks to the magical gate. He is with the two things given to him by Foaly. Only Artemis can save every single human on the planet from complete annihilation by Opal.
