Renaissance
Art during the Renaissance related to humanism. Renaissance art was a huge break from Medieval art’s lack of realism. Artists tried to portray humanistic forms and natures while also painting in order to portray a 3-D effect. Lines and edges in art were stressed, and some forms of art had many prominent figures of ancient times, the bible, or classical mythology. -

Reflection of Society
The art of the Renaissance greatly reflected the society of the day. Before the Renaissance, art was focused primarily on religious forms. During the Renaissance, society changed. People started to care more about secular life on earth, and began to value humans and their intellect. This is reflected in art praising the great minds of the time as well as the ancient history and mythology shown. -

The Baroque art reflected the society at the time of the counter-reformation. The art's dramatic color and light, as well as its portrayal of emotion and darkness, shows confusion and the dissent in society during the counter-reformation, when society as a whole seemed to be in havoc. -

Period: to
Romanticism
Romanticism art form glorified nature, had subjects from the medieval times, and portrayed a strong sense of emotion. It stressed light, color, and self-expression. Elements of exoticism and mystery in this art emphasized feeling, and it rebelled from the Neoclassicism era. (This is probably my favorite art time period). -

During the 20th century, Cubism emerged as an art form that reflected society through its visual interpretation of the universe in geometric and flattened concepts, along with warped and shapes in off juxtaposition.
