Arlene's Reading History

  • The Boxcar Children

    The Boxcar Children
I remember my 3rd grade teacher letting me borrow his books and take them home. Normally, our teachers wouldn't let us, but he noticed I loved to read and allowed me to take them.
  • Goosebumps Series

    Goosebumps Series
Over the next year, my 3rd-grade teacher started giving me a series to start reading. He introduced me to Goosebumps and I had my mom take me to the library to check out various Goosebumps books at a time. They quickly became my favorite series.
  • Twilight Series

    Twilight Series
My older cousins started reading the Twilight series with my aunt's permission. I followed in their footsteps and they handed their books down to me. It was the first time I read books bigger than a standard chapter book.
  • Hunger Games

    Hunger Games
As the pattern shows, I loved reading series and the Hunger Games was quickly picking up popularity. I read the first book, but loved the movies more so I stopped reading the book.
  • John Green

    John Green
As I approached high school, I became obsessed with John Green! I loved reading Looking for Alaska. I read it so much that it ripped apart from the wear and tear.
  • The Perks of Being a Wallflower

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
As I entered highschool, my transition was fairly hard. I found the book The Perks of Being a Wallfower. It made me feel seen when I didn't.
  • Lolita

    Lolita
As I went through high school, I became interested in reading classic Literature. I read Lolita in 2 days from how surprised the content was.
  • The Virgin Suicides

    The Virgin Suicides
The Virgin Suicides was a random book I got on sale at the store. It was the first book I read that included a group of sisters committing suicide one after the other. They made a movie adaptation, which was just as good as the book for once.
  • The Black Dagger Brotherhood

    The Black Dagger Brotherhood
In adulthood, it's hard to find books that capture my interest. However, this series has about 25 books in it (I'm currently on book 17) and it has action, romance, and steamy scenes.
  • Haunting Adeline

    Haunting Adeline
This book encouraged me to start a book club with my friends! It's allowed me to meet new friends and build better relationships with my existing ones.
