Sugar Act
The Sugar Act was Brithain's first attempt to tax American citizens. Later, more and more daily necessities would be taxed; this lead to the the tension between the citizens of America and the British. -
Boston Massacre
With the growing need to revolt, the Americans finally snapped. A couple Americans decided to attack a group of British soldiers. This led to more and more Americans rioting and attacking the soldiers. The British soldiers had no other choice but to suppress the crowd. They did this by scaring the citizens by shooting anyone they could see in the streets. -
Boston Tea Party
Engraged with the recent tax on tea, a group of American citizens dressed up as Mohawk Indians importing British tea into the US. At the harbor, they dumped 9,000 Euros worth of tea into the sea hoping that their actions would abolish the taxes on tea and other necessities. -
Publication of the Declaration of Independence
After the series of wars from the American Revolution, Britian decided to give up the US and make it its own soverign state. The Decleration of Independence was merely a break up letter to Britain. -
Publication of the United States Constitution
The constitution was created as a rule book for the United States government and for the citizens of the United States. After the oppression among Americans from the British, popular choice was to create a democracy that would make Americans more free. -
Election of Abraham Lincoln as US President
Abraham, to-be one of the biggest proponents in the US Civil War, is elected president. His motive as president was to free all Americans from any slavery and create equal rights among all citizens as well. He also cleary stated that he will not tolerate any state's seccession from the Union. -
Beginning of the US Civil War
With the Confederate US wanting to become its own country, the Union felt the need to change their decision and to make the US whole again. This could only happen by war, which was the reason the Civil War took place. -
Publication of the Emancipation Proclamation
President Abraham Lincoln published the Emancipation Proclamation to free all black slaves in the Union and even enlist them in the Union army agaisnt the Confederate. -
13th Amendment ratified
The ratification of the 13th Amendment freed all slaves in the US. This meant that the Union won the Civil War. The effect of the Union winning most likely led to the assassination of Abraham Lincoln by a Confederate. -
Roosevelt threatens Japan
United States President, Franklin D. Roosevelt tells Japan not to attack any of its neigboring states or else the United States will attack Japan. -
The United States joins World War II (Pearl Harbor)
In 1941, Japan bombed the United States' Pearl Harbor. This was the ultimate reason why the US joined in World War II. After this event, the US bombed Hiroshima, Japan with their new technology of atomic bombs This created a lot of tension between the two countries. -
D-Day
American troops land in Normandy, France. They invaded the city to overthrow Nazi-controlled France. The Americans succeeded; this was the start of the fall of Nazism. -
World War II ends
The end of World War II ws marked by the Allies defeating enemy forces in Europe and the United States leading other enemies to surrender, like Japan. Although, in May of 1945, Hitler became trapped by the Allies and commited suicide. Also, Mussolini was also apprehended, which put an end to major enemy powers. -
Martin Luther's I Have A Dream Speech
Martin Luther King Jr. was probably the biggest civil rights activist in the United States during the Civil rights movement. His speech was one of the most influential in getting every human equal rights in the US at the time.
