Joseph Jackson Lister reduces problem
He discovers that you can use multiple weak lenses to see without blurring the image. Now that scientists can see images more clearly they need to work towards being able to observe things that are transparent, colorless and very small. -
Frits Zernike invents the phase-contrast microscope
This microscope allows him to study colorless and transparent biological materials. Because of this scientists can see a wider variety of organisms, bactreria etc. Now scientists can better understnad what's in the human body. -

Because of his research on the cell people were able to evolve those ideas and now stem cells found in the umbilical cord can be used to cure/help diseases such as various types of cancer, blood disorders, immune disorders and metabloic disorders.
