Anne Frank was born in Frankfurt am Main, Germany -
Time to Move
In the summer of 1933, Hitler was elected chancellor of Germany. Anti-Jewish laws were immeadiately established so the Frank family decided to move to the Netherlands. -
Invasion
Germany invades the Netherlands. -
13th Birthday
Anne recieves her first diary. -
Margot's Deportation
Anne's older sister, Margot, was called to report for deportation into a forced labor camp. The rest of the Frank family decides to go into hiding. -
Families in Hiding
Another Jewish family, the van Pels, follow the Franks and join them in hiding. -
Secret Annex
Fritz Pfeffer joins the Secret Annex. He is 8th and final member to join the Franks and van Pels. -
Secret Annex Destroyed
The members of the Secret Annex were betrayed and arrested. They were brought to a police station in Amsterdam where they were evenutally moved to Westerbork Training Camp. -
Auschwitz
The members of the Secret Annex were transported to Auschwitz intermnent camp. This was the last transport to leave Westerbork. Once they arrived, the men and women were seperated. -
Bergen-Belson
Anne, Margot, and Mrs. van Pels were brought to another concentration camp called, Bergen-Belsen. Edith Frank did not join the rest of the women and remained in Auschwitz-Birkenau. -
Edith Frank
Edith Frank passes away at Auschwitz-Birkenau. -
Otto Frank's Libertation
Anne Franks father, Otto is freed from Auschwitz by the Russian Army. Before making his way back to Amsterdam, he was required to stop in Odessa and France. -
Anne and Margot's Death
Anne and Margot Frank both pass away at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp. The deaths were days apart. -
Otto Frank Reaches Amsterdam
Otto Frank finally reaches Amsterdam. He is able to reunite with Miep and Jan Gies. He was aware that his wife is dead, but he did not know that both his daughters passed away. -
Anne's Diary
Otto Frank was informed that his beloved daughters, Anne and Margot had died in Bergen-Belsen. Miep found Anne's diary that she had hid after the Franks were arrested. She returned the diary to Otto with intentions to give it to Anne. -
The Diary is Published
In the summer of 1947, Amsterdam published the first 1,500 copies of Anne Frank's diary.
