Birth
After getting married, Otto and Edith moved to Frankfurt. This is where Margot and Anne are born. Anne is born June 12th 1929. Her sister Margot was born February 16, 1926. -

Adolf Hitler becomes Chancellor of Germany and the first anti-Jewish laws are established. -
Moving
The Frank family leaves Germany and move to Amsterdam, Holland. Anne was only four years old. Otto Frank maneged to set up a buesiness here. -

The Invasion
The Soviet Union invades Poland from the east. The Frank family is excited because the war is soon over. -
The second Invasion
The Soviet Union invades Finland. The family gets more and more anxious for the war to end. -
"Work Camp"
The first Jews receive call-up notices to report for the so-called “work” camp Westerbork.Jews must arrange a hiding place with non-Jews. Such hiding places are difficult to find, but Anne's parents see the possibility of going into hiding in the annex of the building that houses Otto's business. -
Surprise
Margot is ordered to report for relocation to a labor camp. -
Hiding
The family goes into hiding. Soon enough the hiding place becomes too small for Anne's restless character. -
Birthday Present
Anne receives her diary as a birthday present from her father, Otto. Anne started to record her feelings and observations. She also named her diary Kitty and it became her best friend. -
The Radio
Anne hears a Dutch Radio broadcast saying that people should keep their letters and diaries as a record. Anne begins to edit her diary in hopes that someday it will be published. -
The End
Anne writes her last Diary entry. -
The Arrest
The Secret Annex is raided by the Grüne Polizei (Security Police). -
Prison
The Frank family were sent to an overcrowded prison on the Weteringschans where they stayed for two nights. -
Transported
Frank family are transported to the Auschwitz death camp in Poland. Anne Frank and her sister Margot are transported to Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, where thousands of people are dying of hunger and sickness everyday. -
Surviver
The Russian Allies liberate the remaining survivors in Auschwitz, including Otto Frank. -
Death
Margot and Anne both contract typhus and die within a short time of each other only a few weeks before the liberation of the camp. -
Suicide
Hitler commits suicide with his wife of two days, Eva Braun, their bodies are believed to have been cremated. -
Returns
Otto Frank returns to Amsterdam, not knowing whether his family are still alive. -
News
Otto Frank receives word that Anne and Margot died at Bergen-Belsen. His loyal friend Miep gives him the diary written by Anne Frank that she found in the annex after the family was arrested. -
The Publishing
Otto Frank (the only one who survived the camps) published Anne's diary in the Netherlands. -
Death
Anne's mother, Edith Frank dies of starvation at Auschwitz. -

Anne's Diary was published in English. -
