Angel Island- Chi Hong

  • My Birthday

Happy Birthday to me. I am born in a small town in the center of China.the first and last child my parets will ever bring forth to this world. My parents work in very poor living conditions, they want only for me to be blessed that someday my life will be far more grand than theirs.
  • My Voyage to Angel Island

I can't believe I am actually on my way to Amerca. I am traveling to the "Golden Mountains" or as many americans call it Angel Island. I am traveling for myself and by myself. I have to provide myself with a better future and seek my fourtune.
  • Angel Island Inspection

Before I may enter America I must go through an inspection. This inspection will make or break yu. I will eaither pass and continue my journey through America or I may be sent baack to China, I have no control over my fate. My palms begin to sweat as I become next in line. I tell myself to remember that I will pass this inspection because I have nothing to hide. As I believed, I had passed my inspection. America here I come!
  • Angel Island

I have finally docked at Angel Island. I amoverjoyed. This is what I have been waiting for since I was a little girl. My parents constantly told me that there was nothing for me to do in my small town in China and that my future awaits in another country. Of course the best possible way to acquire this is by traveling to America.
  • Chinese Exclusion Act

Many chinese immigrants are being taken from their jobs. Many acts are being passed to benefit locals to America rather than immigrants. I watch as many around me are losing their jobs and being treated unlawfully. This is as if a nightmare. Befoe anything like this will happen to me, I must return home.
  • Home Sweet Home

I must return home to my small town in China. This is my descision. I will not be treated poorly by fellow Americans. So to decrease the possibility for this to occur I must return home. I will have to start fresh once more. China here I come, goodbye America.
