Armitsar Massacre
To protest the Rowlatt Acts 10,000 Indian pepole got together in a square in Armitsar, their intention to pray, and fast there. But British soldiers believed they were protesting beagn to shoot at the square. They shot there for 10 minutes killing 400 people and injuring 1,200. -
Civil Dissobedience
Congress Party let civil dissobedience begin, this means to refuse to follow an unjust law. This way achieving independence in non violent ways. -
Salt March
Gandhi organized a march to defy the British Government's law that all Indian citizens had to buy salt from only the Briish government. They march 240 miles to the seacoast. Here they began to produce their own salt, in this manner defying the British government -
1st Attempt of Assassination
Gandhi was in Pune giving a speech. When he arrived to the auditorium to give the speech a bomb was thrown at the stage. -
Government of India Act
British government passed Government of India act, which gave Indian citizens to govern themselves localy, and have limited democratic elections. But this did not give Indians complete indepence. -
Hunger Strike
At 73 years of age gandhi starts another hunger stirke that lasts for 21 days. -
Indian Independence Act
This act was made by the British government and it said that British India was to be split into 2 countries. Pakistan and the conuntry of India, these two countries being new independent countries. -
Gandhi's Death
Gandhi is assasinated by Nathuram Godse. Gandhi was entering a square to begin prayer with the people when Nathuram Godse gave three gunshots and killed Gandhi.
