Creation of the Triple Alliance
Three years after the creation of the dual alliance, between Austria-Hungary and Germany; Italy joined the other two countries, forming the triple alliance in 1882. An alliance system is an agreement made between countries to fight with and for one another. In this case, a triple alliance was formed between Germany, Itlay and Austria-Hungary. Rise of Kaiser Wilhelm II
In 1890, Kaiser Wilhelm II forced Bismarck to resign; just two years after he was asigned the ruler of Germany. He wanted to be in control and couldn't bare the thought of sharing power with anyone, so he forced him to resign.
This is important because this is an aspect of Nationalism, which is a main cause for the World War I. Nationalism is having pride in your own country and defending it, which is exactly what Wilhelm did. He lead Germany into the war because he decides to declare it. -
Alliance between Russia and France
In 1892, once Kaiser Wilhelm II lasped it's nation's agreement with Russia, Russia formed a defneisive mitliary alliance with france. This was Bismarck's fear because at war, they; as in Germany, would be the enemy of both Russia and France. Conflicts over Morocoo
Germany & France fought over who would control Morocoo in 1905 & 1911. Morocoo is in Northern Africa. Almost everyone in Europe suported France, so Germany backed away.
The significance of this event is that it shows imperialism, by expanding an empire, then taking over weaker countries, which led to intense competition and coflict bewteen european countries. This relates to one of the four main cuases, which is imperialism. -
Creation of the Triple Entente
In 1907, Great Britain formed an entente, which is an alliance, with Russia and France. This ensured Britain that they would not fight against Russia and France. This is significant because it was another alliance that was formed. Between the Triple Alliance and Triple Entente, the rivalry and conflict was high, which could put most of Europe's nation at war. -
Annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina
In 1908, Austria annexed Bosnia and Herzegovina. Annexed means to take over, which is exactly what Austria did to Bosnia and Herzegovina. This is significant because it is an example of Imperialism, which is one of the four main causes. This increased the tension between Serbia and Austria. -
Rise of Militarism
There are a wide range of dates, but by 1914 everyone but Great Britan had created strong and large armies. Militarism is the policy of glorifying military power and keeping an army prepared for war. These large armies, made the countries feel patriotic. This is significant because it is too, related to one of the four main causes, which is Militarism. This had a big impact on the causes for World War I. -
Assasination of Archduke Ferdinand
Multiple men set out to assain the ArchDuke of Austria-Hungary and ended up assasining both him and his wife. The assisnator was Gavrilo Princip, which shot both the Duchess and Archduke. This is significant because it was the turning point, that began all the declorations of war for World War I. Shortly after this event, Austria-Hungary declard war on Serbia to begin it all. -

On July 14, 1914, Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. They declared war soon after the Archduke and Duchess were assasinated. This is significant because it was the first decloration of war, that began World War I. -
Germany Declares War
Germany declared war on Russia on August 1, 1914 and then delcared war on France, just two days later. This is significant because it turned the war between two countries, into a World War, which in this case is known as World War I. -
Britain Declares War on Germany
Britain declared war on Germany on August 4, 1914. This is significant because it just added onto the war, making it even a bigger deal and larger war, becoming part of World War I.
