The Titans
The Titans were Oceanus, Tethys, Hyperion, Theia, Crius, Mnemosyne, Coeus, Phoepe, Cronos and Rhea. Cronos and Rhéa were the parents of several Olympians. Cronos was told his children would overthrow him. Rhea deceived Cronos to spare Zeus. Some of the Titans, such as Rhea, were still mentioned in stories featuring the Olympians. -
Other Gods and Goddesses
In addition to these great gods and Goddeses, there were other minor deities mentioned in various Greek myths. For example, muses were the divinities of artistic, literary and scientific inspiration. The other minor deities include Hecate, the goddess of witches, the iris, the goddess of the arches and nike, the goddess of victory. -
Olympian Gods
They moved to the summit of Mount Olympus, where they could rule and observe mortals in their daily lives. Twelve Olympians: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter, Athena, Apollo, Artemis, Ares, Aphrodite, Hephaestus, Hermes, Hestia and Dionysius. Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Demeter and Hestia were the children of Kronos and Rhea. Note that Hades was also the brother of Poseidon and Zeus, but he was not one of the Olympians. -
The Beginning
Some stories explain chaos as the emptiness of nothing. While Chaos was the Void, Gaia was Mother Earth. In the stories where Gaia was the first deity, she gave birth to Uranus without having had a partner. Gaia and Uranus became husband and wife and fathered the Titan gods and goddesses.
