This was the first recorded Olympic Games. The only event was the 200 meter dash. -

Democracy Begins-508 B.C.
The idea of democracy begins in Athens were only males can vote. The male citizens have two rights. Freedom of speech and the right to vote. Democracy is a government system still used today. -
Parthenon Completed-432 B.C.
The temple was built in Athens to house a statue of the goddess Athena so she could watch over her city. The Parthenon is still standing to this day. -
Socrates is executed-399 B.C.
The founder of western philosophy was executed for impiety (disrespect to the gods). Socrates was also the teacher of Plato. Socrates made contributions to the field of ethics which is the idea of doing the right or moral thing. -
Catapult is Invented-339 B.C.
The catapult was invented at Syracuse. This war machine essentially threw giant objects at the enemy. This invention was used throughout the Middle Ages. -
Alexander The Great becomes King of Macedon-336 B.C.
Phillip II of Macedon was killed and Alexander became king. Alexander then began his conquest. He invaded Greece and spread Greek culture everywhere he invaded. Alexander's empire included Persia, Egypt, and part of India. -
Euclid Dies-265 B.C.
Euclid invented geometry. We still use geometry to this day in architecure and Sixth Grade Math. -
Fall of Ancient Greece-146 B.C.
The Roman empire conquered Greece in the battle of Corinth. Greece became part of the Roman empire. -
The Trojan War starts-1194 B.C.
The Trojan war started when the Greek king's wife was kidnapped by Paris. The Trojans were deafeated when Odysseus and his men hid inside a wooden horse. Then when nobody was looking they sprang out and slaughtered the people of Troy.
