Xia Dynasty
Xia dynasty is written to be the first dynasty in Ancient China. This dynasty lasted for almost 500 years. 17 emperors rulled during this time. This dynasty began with Yu the great, who elected under the system of choosing emperors based on their abilities. This system was called Abdication system. After Yu's death, his son Qi took over the throne by out lawing abdication system. From then on, the abdication system was not used, and the herity peroid began. -

Shang Dynasty
Shang dynasty, also know as the Yin dynasty, lasted for around 600 years. 30 emperors rulled during this time. Tang was the first emperor of this dynasty. Tang changed a lot of things with the help of his two ministers. He led his people with kindness and compassion. It was under his rule that people remained happy and the country also thrived. Things went fine untill the ninth emperor, which caused the downfall of the Shang dynasty. -

Zhou Dynasty
The Zhou dynasty lasted over 800 years, the longest recored dynasty in China. The first emperor of this dynasty was Wuwang. He made Haojing its capital. 37 emperors rulled during this time. The Zhou dynasty is classified into two periods, which are the Western Zhou and the Eastern Zhou. -

Song Dynasty
The Song dynasty lasted for 2219. Song dynasty was founded by General Zhao Kuang-yin. This first emperor of the Song dynasty was put on the throne by his own troops in Kaifeng. He slowly reconquered all of China. First he defeated the empire Chu, then Shu in Szechuan, next south China and in the 970s the other small empires.

Fall of the Sui Dyasty
The decline of the Sui dynasty was because of the deaths from the failed military campaigns against Goguryeo. It was after these losses that the country was left in ruins and rebels soon took control of the government. -

Sui Dynasty
The Sui Dynasty lasted for 38 years. 3 emperors rulled during this time. Sui united China under one rule. He also expanded the Great Wall and built the Grand Canal. When Emperor Yang was killed, the dynasty completely collapsed. -

Fall of the Zhou Dynasty
The Zhou dynasty declined beause the Warring States period in when the army of Qin captured the city of Chengzhou. The Qin army also killed the last Zhou ruler, King Nan. -

Qin Dynasty
The Qin dynasty lasted 15 years. 2 emperor rulled during this time. The first emperor was Shi Huangdi. He insisted that the round coin with square hole, the Ban Liang Coin, should be the coin used in the country. Also he ordered the Great Wall of China to be bulit. -

Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China was created during the Qin dynasty. It took ten years to build this wall. It was built to defend China from the Mongol invasion from the north of China. -

Han Dynasty
The Han dynasty rulled for 400 years. 24 emperors lead during this time. The Han dynasty created the civil service to create a strong and organized government. Paper and porcelain were invented during this time. The Han also improved Confucianism, poetry, and literature.
