    The Delian League was formed by multiple Greek city states to safegaurd a sum of money in case another war should erup with Persia, or another country.

    The Persians, wanting to invade all of Greece, decided to enter Greece through the pass of Themopyae, a narrow pass that was the only big enough pass for Xerses massive army. So Greeks bdecide to block the pass, and the nearby narrow strait through which Xerses could enter Greece nad overrun it. The Greeks managed to hold out for a few days, but was then betrayed by one of their own men who showed the Persians a way around the pass. The Battle of Salamis was also a tragic event in history.

    At around 490 B.C. the Persians and Athenians went to war and winded up fighting in the Greek town of Marathon. The Persians had more than twice as many troops as the Athenians, and the Spartans couldnt help in time, but the Athenians still manged to win by encirclying the enymy, and then preventing a suprise attack. The name Marathon comes from a greek legend that a messenger ran from Marathon to Athens to inform the Athenians. The picture is of the modern day Marathon in Greece.
