    Link2Link1The life was mostly farming, they had alot of slaves. They really didnt want to have a government but what ended up happening was they adopted a democratic system. The rekationship between the colonies and England was good.
  • The Mayflower Compact

    Link2Link1It was written by Separatists to flee religious persecution from James VI and I. The Mayflower was carrying 101 passengers and they all signed it. They did not want to be control when they got to the new land.

    It is a document that stated laws and new taxes. It is considered one of Englands most famous constitutional documents. I would assume that the settlers did not much like it at first becasue if you didnt follow the rules you would be imprisioned. After a while thought they probably would start to because the rules made sense and helped them grow.

    Link2Rights Its was a document that showed that the English sovereign had limited power. They had many laws that the citizens had to follow. The settlers liked it because they had something to follow. It showed that someone was trying to take control.

    Link2Link1Settlers came to the Americas for many reasons. One was that they would ahve new land and some freedom. They thought that is was a 'new world' and they could have open ideas about everything, Like religion.

    Link2Link1Benjamin Franklin proposed the Albany plan so that all the colonies would be under one government. He wanted everyone to be together because it would make things easier. All the colonies were too different to be able to come toether as one.

    Link2Link1The stamp act was passed by the British Parliment. It was a tax that taxed everyone for every printed piece of paper that they used. England veiwed it as an attempt to raise money in the colonies without approval from the colonial legislatures.

    The Boston Massacre was when 5 colonist were killed by the British. The British were mad because The Royal Troops had come to Ma and enforced taxes. This event led to the Amerrican Revolutionary War a couple of years later.

    Link2Link1The Tea Act was not intended to raise taxes. It was made to make the East India Company better. The tea was shipped threre and sold at bargain price. The leaders of America thought that they should sell it with a tax since. A group of Massachusetts Patriots were angered by the Tea Act and they took 342 chests of Tea and dumped it into the harbor. The effect of this action was the beggining of the Revolutionary War.

    Link2Link1It's when 13 colonies came together in secret and talked about liberty, They met in secret so that Great Britain didnt know they were united. Out of all their talks they made the Declaration of Independence, the Articles of Confederation, and the Marines Corps.

    Link2Link1The 13 colonies were starting to join up to break free from the British Empire. They were turning into the United States. The war started because the colonist were sick of all the taxes and didnt want them anymore. The Constiution was written and they declared independence.

    The second continental congress was made so they could discuss more things about the government. They made many new pentions. They also elected George Washington to be the commander-in-chief of the Continental Army. On July 4th they issued the Decleration of Independence. The congress also apppoimted a new governement type.

    Link2Link1The Declaration of Independence is when the 13 colonies decided that thye wanted to be an independant state and was no longer atttached with the British Empire. Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness are the main values of it. It says that every man has the right to those and no one can tell them otherwise.
  • The End of the Revolutionary War and the Critical Period of 1780s

    Link2Link1When the war ended they seperated from Great Britian and they didn't have a government or any laws or rules to keep them in line. There were many things going wrong and it was a risk, but they needed it and got it done. The AOC were framework because they provided some structure to the people and the government.

    Link2Link1An agreement between the 13 states it was the first attempt to the Constitution. It was mostly a body of text that was about war for independence. It lasted for 8ish years untill the Constitution came into effect. Some of the strentghs were that tghey could declare war to make peace, borrow money and trade with foreign counties, and

    Operate post offices. Some weaknesses were there was no army or navy, they could not issue there own money, they lacked leadership, and the government had no way to inforce laws. Those are just a couple, but the ones that seemed most important to me.
  • Mount Vernon 1785

    Link2Link1It was a meeting that two delegates from Virginia and Maryland discussed the water border line between it and Mnt. Vernon. The next year they had more people attend for differnet reasons and that is how they started discussing the constitution.
  • Annapolis 1786

    Link2Link 1It was a meeting of five states (Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia.) They were discussing the problems that they faced. The main thing that they debated to have a new meeting to change the content in the Articles of Confederation, ot would make it more powerful. In later time it led to the United States contitutuion.

    This was a meeting in which they dicussed the weakness of the central government. The meeting was to revise the Articles of Confederation. They all got together to write the Contitution, there weere 55 delgates but only 35 helped write it. The making of it helped many other places like France make something like ours.

    Link2Link1Ths plan stated that the Articles of Confederation should be changed so that it would be much improved. It also said that they should raise funds and tarrifs. It said that people should not be able to be reelected. That a citizen from one state can be prosecuted under the laws of another state if the crime happened there. It was rejected because it was a really old style of government but, some of the things in it were used in the constatution.
  • The Commerce and Slave Trade Compromise

    Link2Link1It delt with whether the U.S could continue to have slaves or not. The north wanted it to stop and the south did not. The south continued to have slaves for 20 more years. The commerce restricted congress to place taxes on any exports.
  • The Connecticut Compromise

    Link2Link1This was between the big states and the little states. This comprmise combined The Virginia Plan and The New Jersey Plan. With them being together it made it so the states could have 2 senetors in congress while they still had seats in the house of reps. They at least had to have 1. It led to the Three-Fifths Compromise.
  • The Three-Fifths Compromise

    Link2Link1It was a compromise between the north and south stating that three fiths of the slaves would be counted for taxes and apportionment of the members. It's in the constitution because it is not directed towards slaves anymore, but just people in genral. Slaveholders had the benifit of increased representation.

    Link2Link1The plan dicussed how the people of Virgina would like to have a national government with 3 branches. it would have 2 houses, one of them would have citizen elected people and would be there for 3 year terms. The other would be older leaders elected by the state legislatures for seven-year terms. The smaller states thought that they wouldnt have to same say as the bigger states becasue they didnt have the same ammount of people.
  • Ratifying the Constitution: The Federalists vs. the Anti-Federalists

    Link2Link1The word ratify means to make a legal document like a treaty or a constition, it is makin git 100% valid. The antifederalist said that it ghave to much power to the government, there was no bill of rights, the excutive branch has to much power, congress had too much power, and we could have army in peacetime. The federalist had answers to all their problems and won because they were more organized and had answers to the problems.
