French and Indian War
They both were fighting over the Ohio Valley. At stake was was fur trade and full import access across the Mississippi River. This war took seven years. -
Proclamation of 1763
This granted the British a lot of land. The British wanted to keep the colonists from settling on the land that they received. -
Stamp Act
The British used writs of assistance or search warrants and the colonies would have to get a special stamp or would be punished for the crime they did when they purchased an item without the stamp. -
Tea Act
The British placed taxes on tea and even though they had cheaper tea the British thought that they could get away with more taxes and earn more money. -
Intolerable Acts
These acts took place so that the colonists could be punished for the Boston Tea Party and could really get through to the colonists that the parliament isn't messing around. -
Boston Tea Party
The colonists dressed as Native Americans and dumped 342 crates of tea into the Boston Harbor. They did this to show the government that they will not listen to their rules. -
Declaration of Independence
This gave colonists freedom of speech and freedom of rights. It also helped with government issues and with political arguments.
