Cause: Britain needed more money.
Effect: Resentment lead to the American Revolution. -
French and Indian War ends
Cause: issues of whether the Upper Ohio River Valley belonged to France or Britain.
Effect: Treaty of Paris ended the war and made Britain a dominant world power.
Dates: 1754-1763 “ 7 years war”. -
Boston Massacre
Cause: Colonists were angry about previous events like the Quartering Act and Coerce Act.
Effect: The colonists threw rocks and snowballs at the British soldiers. The British soldiers shit and killed five colonists. -
Stamp Act
Cause: Britain needed money to pay back debt from the war.
Effect: Colonists boycotted British goods and they organized the Sons and Daughters of Liberty. -
Tea Act
Cause: Made tea a monopoly on American tea trade.
Effect: Colonists merchants were cut out. -
Boston Tea Party
Cause: The colonists did not want to pay taxes on tea.
Effect: Sons of Liberty dressed as Mohawk Indians and dumped the Tea into the Boston Harbor. -
Coerce/Intolerable Acts
Cause: Boston Tea Party
Effect: Self-government and rights were taken away from the colonists by Britain. -
First Continental Congress
Cause: The kind wanted to punish colonists for the Boston Tea Party.
Effect: Colonists and British boy otters make an alliance.
Dates: Sep. 5, 1774- Oct. 26, 1774 -
Lexington and Concord
Cause: Hundreds of British troops marched on Concord to seize an arms cache.
Effect: The American Revolution starts. -
Second Continental Congress
Cause: Voted to raise an Army
Effect: The American Revolution Begins -

Cause: Colonists were unhappy about being taxed by Britain.
Effect: American colonists severe ties with Britain. -
Battle of Saratoga
Cause: Burgoyne moved troops in an attempt to flank the American position on Bemiss Heights.
Effect: The French join the Americans in their fight.

Winter at Valley Forge
Cause: Had to stop at Valley Forge because of harsh winter conditions.
Effect: Hundreds die from disease.

Cause: The British were waiting for reinforcements and supplies.
Effect: The last major battle of the American Revolution.

Cause: The Americans won the American Revolution and need a new government.
Effect: Separation of powers, checks and balances, new government in America.
Dates: May 25, 1787-Sep. 17, 1787 -

Cause: America won their freedom from Britain.
Effect: U.S. has its own government and nation.
