French and Indian War
A war between France and Great Britain that lasted from 1754-1763. Britain won the war, and it ended with the Treaty Of Paris. Although Britain won, they still instituted high taxes and harsh policies to pay back for all of the money, time, and men spent on the war. -
Appalachian Mountains Proclamation line of 1763
A proclamation declared by the British at the end of the French and Indian war. It was used to stop Native Americans from coming into the colonies. Colonists disliked this because of the strict control Birtian Had over them. -
The Sugar Act
A law passed by the British parliament in 1764 raising duties on foreign refined Sugar growers in the West Indies. this was a monopoly on the colonial market. -
Sons of Liberty
A secret organized that was created to advance the rights of the European colonists. Was Used to fight taxation by the British government. -
The Stamp Act
An act passed by the British Parliament in 1765. Imposed the Colonists to pay a tax on every printed paper they used. It was Repealed later after Colonists fought against it. -
The Townshend Act
An Act that led to further protests in Colonies. Declared by the British from 1767-1768 that taxed multiple goods in replace from the stamp act. Colonists were very unhappy about this, which would furhter strike there anger for a revolution. -
The Boston Massacre
A confrontation between colonists and redcoats. Five Colonists killed- was used as propaganda, tension rising between colonists and Britian. -
Committees of correspondence
Letter writing Committee to keep colonies informed. Helped keep colonial unity. -
Boston Tea party
An act of protest from colonists when Sons of Liberty dressed as Native Americans dumped chests of tea into the boston harbor. -
Intolerable Acts
Act passed in 1774 that closed Boston harbor, taxed more goods, and puts mass and martial law. These acts were caused by the Boston Tea Party. -
Lexington and Concord
The First battle of the American Revolution. British win. Continental general was Thomas George and British General was Colonial Smith. -
Bunker Hill
Second battle. British win, but it is a moral victory for the Colonists because the only reason they fled was that they ran out of ammunition. It was a battle that gave them hope that they could win the war. -
America Declares Independence
The thirteen colonies issue The Declaration Of Independence. The Declaration stated their values in becoming a free country, along with their motives for independence. -
Battle of Yorktown
The battle that ended the Revolution when the British Surrendered. General George Washington was the Continental General, with the help of many French Troops. -
Treaty of Paris
Treaty signed in Paris by representatives of King George III of Great Britain and representatives of the United States. Ended the Revolutionary War.
