Stamp Act
Every newspaper, pamphlet, and other public and legal document had to have a Stamp, or British seal, on it. The stamp costed money any people got mad about it because they didin't think they should be paying for something they always did for free. -
Boston Tea Party
American Colonists dumped tea in the ocean because they were told that they could only buy tea from the East India Trading company and had to pay high taxes for the tea (Tea Act). -
First Continental Congress
Delegates from each colony, but Georgia discussed the current situation with Britain including the Intolerable Acts, which the British Parliament had imposed on Boston as punishment for the Boston Tea Party. -
The Second Continental Congress
All thirteen colonies were represented this time because Georgia joined. This congress acted like a government , printing its own money, getting loans, and raising money. -
The Declaration of Independence
The thirteen colonies in the America's had been at war with Britain for around a year when the Second Continental Congress decided it was time for the colonies to officially declare their independence. This meant that they were breaking away from British rule. They would no longer be a part of the British Empire and would fight for their freedom. The United States Constitution
A group of men, called the Framers, met to write the Constitution. They felt a set of rules were needed to govern the country. -
The Bill of Rights
The Bill of Rights was made to insure certain freedoms and rights to the citizens of America. It put limits on what the government could do.
