Due to the large amount of number the british soldiers were, Benjamin Lincoln surrender easily to the british, In result many patriots soldiers were captured as prisoners. -

The british surrender to the colonist after the colonist had help from France to help them win the war. The image I used is a painting that gives a guess on how the war ended. -
The Treaty of Paris
After the war was over the treaty of Paris was signed in Paris with the attendance of John Jay, Adams and Franklin. The important message in the Treaty of Paris for the Americans was that the prisoners of war from both sides were given back to the country they were fighting for during the war, all loyalists possession that were taken were kept, all debts to British merchants must be payed back, and slaves were not brought back to Great Britain, they stayed in America.
