    French and Indian War
    The cause of the war was both countries wanted control of the Ohio River for natural resources. So they fought for the area and the British won, but this caused some conflict because Britain couldn't pay for the war so they taxed the colonies unfairly and caused some conflict.
  • The Sugar Acts

    The Sugar Acts
    The Sugar Acts were laws that put taxes on sugar, molasses, and other spices. They put it into place because Britain couldn't pay for the French and Indian war, so they taxed the colonies. This made the colonists really mad and made them repel it but then they put the Declatory Acts so the colonists had no say in the laws
  • Townshend Acts

    Townshend Acts
    They were taxed on everyday items and Britain used the money to pay for the militia. They couldn't pay for the war themselves so they needed money from the colonists. They also used the money to pay the salaries of the governors in the 13 colonies that were from Britain. They patriots boycotted British goods, attacked tax collectors houses, and made there own goods. Britain sent over troops to help restore order in the colonies.

    Boston Massacre
    The Boston Massacre was a tragic event in which British soldiers shot innocent colonists because of protesting. The reasoning of this was because the colonists were protesting and the British got mad, so they shot there guns at them, killing them.
  • The Boston Tea Party

    The Boston Tea Party
    The Boston Tea Party was a event in which 50 patriots dressed up as Indians and went on a British ship filled with tea, and dumped out all 342 crates of it into the ocean. They did this because they were mad that they didn't have any say in the laws and that they kept the tea tax. British was outraged so they sent soldiers over to Boston and closed down the port. This caused many people to live in poverty because they couldn't export goods for money, or get imports.

    The Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were a law that included a whole lot of laws, those being Quebec Act, Boston Port Bill, Quartering Act Massachusetts Government Act and Administration of Justice Act. Britain said because you dumped a million dollars worth of tea into the ocean, we are going to give you these unfair laws. The patriots were outraged so this event led them to the First Continental Congress in 1774. This event also led Loyalists to lean more toward the patriot side because how unfair they were.
  • The First Continental Congress

    The First Continental Congress
    The Continental Congress was a group formed by 55 delegates (patriots) that met in secret and worked together to try to separate from Britain. They refused all of there demands. They sent these demands over because they were mad that they put the Intolerable Acts to punish them, but when they sent them the British got mad and sent more troops to take there guns away from them so they couldn't fight back.
