King George the third taxed the colonist on their tea imports. The colonist rebelled and throughout the tea into the Boston Harbor. This was known as the Boston tea party. -

The declaration was based upon john locke's ideas that everyone has natural right. That cannot be taken away. The right listed by jefferson are life liberty and property of happiness (black and beck 642) -

The constitution set up a system of check and balances black this dept all 3 separate branches of government from becoming branches of government from becoming too powerful the branches are legislative executive and judicial Montesquieu's also believed a strong government was necessary but a separation of power was important (black and beck 645). -
Constitution
The creation of the us constitution allowed america to become a republic ruled by the people this connects to rousseau who believed in the social contract. Set of laws to protect the people and the government (black and beck 644). -
