The Treaty that ended the French and Indian War. The French were kicked out of America, The British now controlled everything from the Atlantic and the Mississippi River.

King George III forbade any settlement past a certain line in the Appalachian Mountains, which angered the Americans for they just fought a war trying to be able to settle further.

This was a tax on molasses and sugar from the West Indies. This was the first law passed that raised tax revenue in the colony for the British.

Promoted self sufficiency of the British Empire by restricting colonial trade to England. So of course the colonists would be effected somewhat heavily by this, to counteract this act, colonists would simply resort to smuggling good.

A tax on paper products was passed that made it so things like playing cards, dice, needed a stamp to show the legal tax was payed. All it accomplished was making the Americans angrier than they already were.

This was a law that said that all colonies had to provide food and quarters for British troops. This renewed their anger.

Several colonies got together to state the rights and sorrows of the colonists and pleaded with the king to repeal the legislation, however, they were ignored. It was also a significant step toward intercolonial union.

After the forced repeal of the Stamp Act Britain added the Declaratory Act which fully defined its right to bind the colonies in all acts.

Light tax on paper, paint, lead, and tea. This of course could not stand for the tea tax in particular, everyone drank tea on the daily, it really messed with them.

Settlers at Boston were jeering British soldiers, until the point where the soldiers snapped and shot at them. 5 killed, 6 injured. Kind of made the British army look unprofessional, fueled the flames for rebellion even more.

Outraged by the Townshend Acts and especially the tea tax, many Son's of Liberty dressed as natives boarded a ship and dumped 342 crates of tea into the water.

After the Boston Tea Party England Responded with what they called the Coercive Acts. They closed Bostons port until they paid back what was owed, restricted town meeting, british soldiers were put on trial in Britain and finally they made it so that oficials could house soldiers everywhere.

Meeting of delegates from 12 of the 13 colonies, no Georgia, to respond to the intolerable acts. They decided to try and boycott goods from the British, just making them more angry.

Colonists took a hill, the British really wanted it back. British sent a frontal attack of 3,000 men. The colonists eventually ran away but only after running low on ammo. This battle showed their army was strong.

A pamphlet that said without their independence, how could they hope for foreign assistance. Why should a little island control their really vast country? Further ignited colonists to want independence.

This document was written by Thomas Jefferson and it explained the natural rights of all men as well as described the events that lead up to the writing of the document.

This was an event where the 13 colonies got together and prepared for the worst while hoping for the best. They tried one final time to patch things up with Britain while building up the army and electing George Washington as the General.

George Washington surprise attacked and captured 1,000 Hessian soldiers. Ridding the British of their European help. That's actually all it really did, it did make him look smart though.

Burgoyne was forced to surrender to General Horatio Gates. This victory for the revolutionists now proved they could win this war, boosting their spirits.

George Washington and French Army surround General Cornwallis. After about two days of the Continental and French army sieging the British, they gave up the fort. Which was basically the end for the British, this was the last major battle.

Britain would now recognize the independence of the United States. Which meant they could finally stop bleeding themselves of their money so they can rebuild their great army.
