  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    Tax on legal documents. Required that a stamp was bought for all legal documens and their other items like newspapers or playing cards.
    Marked the beggining of organized opposition to British rule.
  • Townshed Act

    Townshed Act
    Named after Brintians cheif Charles Townshed. The act was used for the " support of the civil government" in the colonies. Even though an indirect tax colonists were upset because they still saw it as " taxation without representation" colonists started to boycott.
  • Boston Massacre

    Boston Massacre
    Drunken mob harasses British soldiers by throwing snowballs and yelling. WHen the soldiers then fired their muskets pointblank into the crowd killing three instantly and wounding two others, and injuing six tootsl. First bloodshead.

    Colonists disguised themselves as Mohawk Indians and went abroad three tea ships and broke open the crates and dumped 45 tons of tea into the harbor
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    All taxes owed from tea, shut down the port till paid off tea. Extended quartering act to private residence and more people were sent over. Governor allowed move trial of royal officials to the other colony. Great Britain believed to get a more fair trial

    New delegates are Ben Franklin, John Hancock and Thomas Jefferson. Some wanted to fight for independence, others didn't and wanted more colonial self rule
  • Battle of Bunker Hill

    Battle of Bunker Hill
    British army attacked and launches 3 assaults on patriots. Patriots used all ammunition and had to retreat. British won the battle but had about 2,400 dead or wounded

    An attempt to assert the rights of the colonists while maintaining their loyalty to the British crown.

    A document that expressed both levels of the revolution. Suggested anyone could understand conflict between Great Britain colonists

    Was written by Thomas Jefferson. Was divided into four parts and states reasons of independence of the colonies, needed to be free. It was a break off from England

    Battle of Trenton
    George Washington sneak attacked the British across the Delaware at night.

    Battle at Saratoga
    British army led by General Burgoyne, objective was to vut New England off from the rest of the world.

    Washington and Lafayettes troops joined together. Cornwalis suffered many casualities and unable to escape Cornwalis surrenderes to Washington.

    Was an agreement that colonists were now free and independent from England. It was officially their own. Great Britain, France, Spain, and the US were all involved in war
