Columbus and his men landed in what they thought was Asia, and began to steal, and enslave the native people. -

President Calvin Coolidge made light with this act giving all natives in the U.S. citizenship. However, not all had the right to vote due to individual states dictating that right. -
The Indian Civil Rights Act
This act finally gave the natives the same civil rights the white man was given by the Bill of Rights a couple hundred years prior. This act is often called the Indian Bill of Rights. -

United States v. Sioux Nation of Indians
With the Supreme Court ruling; the Sioux were awarded around 106 million dollars in compensation. They refused to take the money which still sits in a trust gaining interest. -
