    Christopher Columbus settled in America and had his first interaction with Natives.

    Diseases were spread like wildfire throughout native Communities, it led to a huge Indigenous population decline.
  • 1775

    A committee of Indian affiars was created. Ths committee wanted to secure and preserve the friendship of the Indian Nations
  • 1817

    Indian Country Crimes act provided federal jurisdiction of crimes committed by or against an Indian or Indian Lad
  • 1838

    Trail of Tears began, this was part of the Indian removal policy which made the Cherokee nation give up land on Mississippi River and migrate to new land.

    Dawes Act passed by the U.S Congress, which authorized the President to surve Indian tribal land and divie it into allotment for individual Indians

    Indian Reorganization Act was put into order and stopped acts of alloment. The objective of this policy was to increase American India self-government and decrease the federal control.

    The Self-Determination and Eduation Assistance Act offered tribes the choice to assume the control of their own government and educational services.

    Indian Child Welfare Act was passed to decreae the high amount of kids tat were taken away from American Indian familes and community.
