Jeanette Rankin was elected into the House of Representatives in 1916. Then she was sworn into Congress. She was a Montana Republican and fought for women’s rights. -
Selective Service Act
This act required men ages 21-45 to register for military service -
Espionage Act
Prohibited attaining information and any kind of espionage relating to the injury of the US. Still in act today. -
Lenin led a Russian Revolution
Vladimir Lenin led the Bloshevisks in a revolution for power. -

It was his outlining vision for ending World War I so that something like it wouldn’t happen again. -
Influenza (flu) epidemic
The Spanish Flu was caused by a H1N1 virus and it infected 500 million people. Just like today many places like libraries, churches, and schools were shut down. -
Sedition Act
Made it a crime to say, write, or do anything bad about the government of the US. This was repealed in 1920 -

The US ruled that speech creating clear and present danger is not protected under the 1st amendment. Also that Schenck violated the Espionage Act -

Senators feared the involvement would mean that American troops might be sent to Europe and settle disputes -
19th amendment
This amendment gave the women a right to vote saying that they you couldn’t be denied your right to vote based on your sex. -
Teapot Dome Scandal
From 1921 to 1923, the Teapot Dome Scandal was during Hardings presidency. A cabinet member, Albert Fall, accepted big amounts of money from oil company’s in exchange for oil reserves. He was the 1st cabinet member ever to be convicted of his crimes while in office. -

Stan Lee was born on December 28, 1922. He was an American comic book writer, editor, publisher, and producer. Mostly known for his involvement with Marvel comics -
Paris Olympics
This was the seventh occurrence of the olympics. It took place from May 4–July 27, 1924. Paris will hold the 2024 summer olympics meaning it will hold 3 olympics. -

The book was published in 1925. The story is about a man named Jay Gatsby, who orders his life around to be reunited with Daisy Buchanan. -

Mickey Mouse made his first debut in “Steamboat Willie”. His original name was Mortimer Mouse but Lillian, Walt Disney’s wife, persuaded him to change it.
