Tuskegee Institute Opens
Tuskegee Institute was a historic African American school; Opened by Booker Washington and Lewis Adams. This was important because it was the first high learning institute for African Americans. -
Plessy v. Ferguson
The case ruled in favor of Plessy. This case was about getting equality in racially segregated public facilities. -
Meat Inspection Act
The meat inspection act made it illegal to sell meat that was unsanitary. This act made all meat facilities enforce sanitary meat production and slaughtering. -

Was formed by white and black activist in 1909 in response to the violence, hatred, and unequal treatment toward African American people -

Because this event brought so much attention to the workplace it ultimately led to the workplace safety laws; creating safer working conditions in factories and workplaces. -
Election of 1912
This election was very significant because president Roosevelt ran as a Progressive candidate against William Taft. William Taft split with the republican party and created the progressive party. -
16th Amendment
This amendment granted congress the right to lay and collect taxes on incomes. It was ratified by congress February 3 , 1913 establishing congress right to tax federal incomes. -
18th Amendment
This amendment banned the use and sale of alcohol in the US. This amendment was very important because it was the only amendment repealed from the constitution and was a HUGE failure. -
19th Amendment
This amendment was ratified in response to women's suffrage. It granted the right to all men and women to vote based on sex.
