  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    The French and Indian war was the last colonial war the war is also called the Seven Years War. The war was for the land of the Ohio River Valley. The British wanted this land but the French also wanted control of the land. In the end the French had to give all of their lands to the west to Britain along with Florida.
  • Proclamation of 1763

    Proclamation of 1763
    The Proclamation of 1763 was put in place after the French and Indian War. The Proclamation said that they could not establish colonies past a line in the Appalachian Mountains. Also the proclamation helped so that there would be no war with the natives.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    The Stamp act was an act passed for granting and applying certain stamps on all paper products and making the colonists have to pay for the stamps.
  • Tea Act

    Tea Act
    The Tea Act was an act that the parliament passed which made the British tea that was imported less money than the tea in the colonies. Also the parliament hoped that the colonists would pay for their tea and that by having cheaper tea would slow or stop smuggling of tea into the colonies. This however did not work because the colonists refused to buy the cheaper tea from the British. The Tea Act eventually led to the Boston Tea Party.

    Boston Tea Party
    British ships showed up in the Boston Harbor carrying British tea. Rebels from the Sons of Liberty dressed as natives and threw 342 chests of tea into the Boston Harbor. The British were not allowed to leave until the colonists paid for all the tea that was thrown overboard.
  • Intolerable Acts

    Intolerable Acts
    The Intolerable Acts were made to punish the colonists responsible for the Boston Tea Party. The colonists did not think they needed punished for the Boston Tea Party. They began protesting almost immediately.
  • Declaration of Independence

    Declaration of Independence
    The Declaration of Independence was a government document. The declaration was signed by 56 people on August 2, 1776. The document was officially approved on July 4, 1776. The declaration is the document that made us be free and a new country away from Britain.
