  • Black Thursday

    Black Thursday is a phrase referring to something awful that occurred on a Thursday. For example, February 6th, 1851, was a day of horrible bush fires in Victoria, Australia. (this really did occur on a Thursday)
  • Invention of the Model T

    The Ford Model T was completed on September 27th, 1908. It was first sold later the same year on October 1st. It was 'published' by Henry Ford, and was unique because it was affordable not only to the upper class, but also to the middle class.
  • Zimmerman Telegram

    The Zimmerman Telegram, also called the Zimmerman Note or the Zimmerman cable, was a secret communication method created by Arthur Zimmerman in January, 1917.
  • WW1 Armistice

    The Armistice was signed on Nov. 11th 1918. Its purpose was to end fighting on land, sea, and air in World War One between the Allies and Germany.

    The 19th Amendment in the U.S. Constitution giving women the right to vote.
  • Charles Lindbergh's flight

    Charles Augustus Lindbergh was born February 4th, 1902. He was an American aviator, and he most known for the first, solo, continuous flight across the Atlantic Ocean. He left from New York City and landed in Paris. His flight took place from May 20th-21st in 1927.

    The New Deal was a group of programs, financial reforms, public work projects, and regulations enacted by President FDR in the US between 1933 and 1939. For example, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), the Civil Works Administration (CWA), the Farm Security Administration (FSA), and the National Industrial REcovery Act of 1933.
  • Hitler for Chancelor

    Adolph Hitler was put in as chancellor on January 30th in 1933. This would eventually lead to him invading Poland and destroying millions of lives across the world.

    The Munich Agreement, or the Munich Pact, concluded at Munich on September 30th 1938, by Nazi Germany, the UK, the French Third Republic, and the Kingdom of Italy. It helped Germany get control of Czechoslovakia
  • Hitler Invades Poland

    Hitler and his Nazis invaded Poland on September 1st, 1939. This was the beginning of World War Two.
  • Pearl Harbor

    Pearl Harbor was bombed by Japan on December 7th, 1941. This event brought the United States into World War Two.
  • D-Day

    D-Day occurred on June 6th, 1944. Code named Operation Neptune, it was an air and sea invasion, and its purpose was to liberate France from the Nazis.

    The United Nations was formed in 1945 after World War Two. Its purpose was to ensure peace and security between countries. 51 countries committed to developing friendly relations among nations, and improving their systems.

    Hiroshima And Nagasaki

    Hiroshima and Nagasaki were demolished by two bombs dropped by the United States. The Atomic bombs, Fat Man and Little Boy, were dropped within a week of each other, both bombs murdering many civilians and causing immense damage, including radiation poisoning.

    The Long Telegram was written by a man named George F. Kennan, who was working at the US Embassy in Moscow, Russia. He wrote the telegram informing the US of the USSR's plans. It basically said that the USSR was going to spend Russia and was no longer going to work with the allies, specifically the United States.

    The soviets first exploded their own atomic bomb, called First Lightning, on August 29th, 1949. This was the beginning of the Cold War.

    Brown v. Board of Education was a case that made it to the supreme court, regarding racial segregation in United States schools.

    The US fought in the Vietnam war because we were allied with South Vietnam.
  • Rosa Parks Refused to Give Up Her Seat

    Rosa Parks was an African-American woman who refused to give up her seat on a white man. This was an act of civil disobedience, that resulted in Parks going to jail.

    The Cuban Missile Crisis was a confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union, both trying to win the loyalty of Cuba.

    President of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy was assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald on November 22nd, 1963.

    The Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was enacted in August 1964. Its purpose was to allow President Lyndon B. Johnson to do what was necessary to promote national peace and security with Southeast Asia.

    The Apollo 11 was a united States air craft that landed on the moon in July, 1969.

    Watergate was a political scandal involving president Richard Nixon, and is plots of espionage.

    Nixon resigned from his presidency on August 9, 1974, to prevent impeachment and removal from office.
  • The Fall of the Berlin Wall

    The Berlin wall in Germany fell on November 9th, 1989. It began a domino effect for other liberation, including the end of the Cold War.
  • Inventing the Internet

    The internet was published in the year in the late 1900's, and became especially popular in the 1990's. It's main developers were Bob Khan and Vint Cerf.
  • The 9/11 Attacks

    Towers in New York City, USA, were purposefully flown into by two planes, both of which had been hijacked by Al-Qaeda's followers. There was also a plane that crashed near a small town in Pennsylvania. There were many innocent civilians and bystanders that died, causing immense loss nation-wide.

    The Coronavirus pandemic is a current even that has a harsh effect on many, often resulting in death for infants, elderly, and those with especially weak lungs. For the US, most serious shut-downs began in February or March, 2020. Now, many are required to wear masks, and being requested to sanitize their hands much more frequently.
